The Stonemen end the weekend with a solid win over the Milwaukee Beavers by the final score of 14-3, pushing their record to 5-2 on the year. Nick started on the mound, going all 9 innings, giving up 3 earned runs on 11 hits with 8 strike outs and 2 walks. A very good pitching performance against a team that puts the ball in play. Defense was very good again today. The field was a turf infield, so although there weren't any bad hops, the ball gets on you in a hurry without the grass to slow it down. The outfield of Adam, Brett and Joe Erd went and got everything, and the infield of Dan, Ty, Donnie and Zimm were really good. Zimm played 1st and picked a couple of throws on short hops like he had been doing it his whole life. Joey Bratten came in for Dan at third and laid out to snag a line drive to take a double away in the 9th.
Hitting was good as we scored 14 runs on 16 hits. Donnie had 4 hits, scored 4 runs, drove in a run and stole a base. Nick had 2 hits, scored 2 runs, drove in a run and stole a base. Ty had 4 hits, scored 2 runs, drove in 2 runs and stole 2 bases. Brett had 2 hits, a walk, scored twice, drove in 1, stole 2 bases and had a sac fly. Dean had a sac fly and hit a deep fly to right that the fielder got a glove on and dropped, allowing 3 runs to score. Dan had a double and drove in a run. Adam had a hit and a walk and scored a run. Zimm had a double and a walk and scored 2 runs. Jason had a hit and scored a run, and JB had a walk in his only plate appearance. A nice team win as we have some time off and don't play again until Friday the 17th at home against Monches. See you around the ballpark!
