Runs and hits were a plenty in this game between Menomonee Falls and the Brookfield Bulldogs. After Brookfield pushed a run across on an rbi hit by Randy Sobczyk in the first, Falls would respond with 5 runs in the 2nd off of starter Greg Basthemer, all with two out. Joe Plantier hit a bases clearing double, and Alex Sutherland and Tyler Fitzsimmons would follow with rbi hits.
Brookfield would respond with four in the 2nd courtesy of 4 hits, a walk, and an error. Falls would come back with 4 more on 5 hits and a walk, ending Basthemer's day. An rbi hit for Josh Stanisch put Falls up 10-5 after 3. After changing out of their retro jerseys, Brookfield began to play more like the current version of themselves, tying the game in the 4th with RBI hits from Curt Pryal, Quinn Hyndiuk, and Dan O'Brien.
Starter Don August wanted to finish one more inning, but after getting two quick outs, rbi hits by Sobczyk and Scott Booth effectively ended his day. After 5, Brookfield led 13-10.
Fortunately for both teams, relief pitchers were effective. Matt Ausloos was fantastic in relief, allowing only 2 runs over 7 strong innings to get the win for the Bulldogs. Nick Heiting kept it close, only allowing 1 run over 4 1/3 innings of relief.
For Brookfield, Dan Barwick and Quinn Hyndiuk each had 4 hit games, with Curl Pryal contributing 3. Menomonee Falls got a 4 hit game from Matt Emmer, who was about 10 feet short of hitting for the cycle, while 6 other players had multiple hit games.
