With big 3 run 2nd inning, and a 5 run 8th inning the New Berlin Lakers ran their record 4-0 win on Racine's opening night.  4 Lakers hitters had 3 hit games, Wes Stasik, Alex Kerschner, Jake Sweet, and Nick Kelly.  Kerschner and Sweet each had 2 doubles.  Adam Vlaj, Kerschner, Sweet, and Kelly all had multiple RBI days.  Lucas Yogerst got the start and went 6 innings giving up just a run and striking out 10.

Monches 7 at North Lake 3
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38973

For 4 innings the Monches Irish seemed to sleep walk through a potential trap game against the host North Lake Lakers.  The Irish who were entering the game at 5-1 looked to remain just a half game behind Pewaukee, who they play coming up.  The Irish however woke up and kept the Carp Trophy in Monches until 2017. The Lakers jumped out first with 2 runs in the bottom half of the first with a RBI single by Travis Koeppen, scoring Matt Wallis and Eric Marquardt.  Blake Hunt then settled in for Pat Smith's Irish and went 6 strong.  Monches tied things up in the 3rd scoring two runs with 2 outs.  With the game tied at two, Monches potent offense found its stride scoring 1 in the 5th and 2 in the 6th to give them all the room they needed.  Hard throwing Josh Ruppel came on for Monches and shut the door on the Lakers, going 3 innings giving up just 1 hit and striking out 6.  Kyle Rogers had 3 hits for Monches.  Travis Koeppen had 3 hits for the Lakers, while Sam Swan and Matt Wallis had multiple hit games for North Lake.

West Bend 7 Up 6 at Lannon 4
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38974

Every season there is a team that starts off slow and then is forced to hit the go button at the 1/3 mark, last season it was the Brookfield Blue Sox, and this season it is West Bend 7 Up.  Lannon, who was on top of the crowded Suburban Division got their Ace back in Troy Kenkel and hoped to help kick a little dirt onto the 7 Up by him starting.  It looked like Lannon was going to control things early when Lannon jumped on top of 7 Up with 1 in the first thanks to a passed ball.  7 Up tied the game in the 3rd, before Lannon came right back to take the 2-1 lead after 3.  7 Up's bats finally found some light in the 5th scoring 3 runs to take a lead they would never give up.  With the score 6-4 in the bottom of the 7th and the bases loaded for Lannon, 7 Up gave the ball to hard throwing lefty Joel Sharon, to face future Hall of Famer Dean Haase and got Haase to hit the first pitch back to Sharon for the easy flip to 1st base to end the threat.  Sharon  then locked down the Stonemen bats for the final 2 innings.  Sam Mattheis had 3 hits for the 7 Up, while Billy Bynum and Adam Rohlinger had multiple hit games, including Rohlinger's first home run of the season.  Ty Kozlowski and Brett Krause each had 3 hits and 6 of 7 for Lannon.  Troy Kenkel went the distance in the Stonemen.

Pewaukee 5 at Hartland 0
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38975

The previous Saturday the Pewaukee Muskies barely escaped John McNeil's Hartland Oilers 4-1 thanks to a Brady Kais start that earned him FourWerx Carbon Pitcher of the Week Honors.  And this time a week later, Kais was arguably better in Pewaukee's 5-0 shutout of Hartland.  After starting late due to weather, there was a chance that both teams may come out flat but not the Muskies who scored 3 runs in the top of the first, and would cruise the rest of the way behind Kais, who in two weeks has gone 18 innings given up 1 run on 6 hits, and struck out 26.  Trent Borgardt had 3 hits for the Muskies, and 2 from Brian Henschel.  Carl Mercier pitched a complete game for Hartland.

Merton 1 at Brookfield Bulldogs 7
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38976

The biggest concern going into the game against Merton for Jason Booth was if his Bulldogs could clean up the mental errors that seemed to be plaguing his team in their last 3 games.  Booth had to be encouraged after a 7-1 victory against Merton.  The Bulldogs opened up a quick 3-0 lead after 2, and it would be enough as the combo of Anthony Andres and John Keane shutdown Merton's bats for the exception of a lone run in the 5th.  Brookfield got multiple hit games from Mike Mierow, Randy Sobczyk, John Keane, and Josh Lemke.  Sam Mulkey had a multiple hit game for the Amvets.  Zach Szalacinski pitched well in relief for the Amvets.

West Bend Lithia 4 at Menomonee Falls 3
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38977

It was inevitable when you've played as many close games as the Lithia have to open up 2016, that eventually they were going to find a way to win a game.  Unfortunately for Nick Heiting's Menomonee Falls Lakers, they were the team that would play the Lithia when they played a complete game.  The Lakers who are fighting to stay in the race in the Suburban Division knew that they need to at a minimum split this weekend with the two West Bend teams coming to town.  Heiting made the decision to start Don August against the Lithia, and Lithia treated him rudely scoring a run in the top of the first.  Falls would not stay down for long as Lakers jumped on Lithia starter Jake Kopp for 2 in the 2nd.  With the score 2-1, Lithia's offense would come alive, as Lithia would go ahead for good with 2 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th.  Falls would mount a potential rally in the 7th but were only able to push one run across.  Sam Michels had 3 hits for Lithia, while Ryan Westenberger and Ryan Morrison would have multiple hit games.  Kopp would go the distance for Lithia scattering 9 hits.  Josh Stanisch had a multiple hit game for the Falls.

Lannon 14 at Milwaukee 3
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38978

Lannon rolled into Milwaukee on Sunday knowing that after dropping the game against West Bend on Friday that this was a game they wanted to keep from falling back into the crowed group trying to catch the top 3.  The Beavers on the other hand, were looking to continue their climb back up the ladder.  It was Lannon who came out the aggressor against Milwaukee starter Alex Rejniak scoring 3 runs in the first, 4 in the second, and 5 in the 5th.  With the game in jeopardy of being declared over by run rule Mike Schroeder hit one of the furthest balls in many people's memories to keep the game going for the Beavers.  Don Matovich had 4 hits on the day, while Ty Kozlowski reached 4 times with 3 hits.  Brett Krause also had a multiple hit game for Lannon.  Nick Erd went the distance on the mound for Lannon.  The Beavers got multiple hit games from Justin Barkhurst, Tim Garceau, and Mike Schroeder.  Josh Smith pitched well in relief for the Beavers.

West Bend Lithia 0 at Brookfield Bulldogs 10
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38979

A day after getting their first victory of the season, hopes were high that they were ready to take that next step against the Brookfield Bulldogs.  The Bulldogs, who entered the game half game out of first were not about to sleep on the Lithia.  Lithia hung tough with the Bulldogs until the 3rd when they finally got to Lithia starter Joe Lehnerz.  The Bulldogs got 2 runs in the 3rd, 1 in the 4th, and 2 in the 5th to blow the game wide open and chase Lehnerz.  The story of the day was Greg Basthemer, who again flirted with perfection against the Lithia offense.  In the 6th Brad Rindfleisch drilled a pitch to left field for Lithia's only base runner of the day.  John Keane had 3 hits on the day for the Bulldogs, while Dan Barwick, Scott Booth, Mike Mierow, and Mike Jacos had multiple hit days for the Bulldogs.

Brookfield Blue Sox 3 at Merton 1
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38980

In what has become one of the more fun games to see in the league, Johnny Arnold vs. Sam Mulkey, lived up to expectations in a Blue Sox victory to remain a half game out of first in the Suburban Division.  The Blue Sox would score a single tally in the first and 4th to lead 2-0.  With the score 2-1 in the 9th, the Blue Sox got a huge insurance run off Mulkey to give Blue Sox closer Ben Versnik all he would need to close the door.  Tim Kahle, Steve Bartlien, Pat Tobiasz, and Zach Loss had multiple hit games for the Blue Sox.  Arnold continued to dazzle in 2016 going 7 more innings without giving up a earned run to lower his ERA to 1.20.  Jake Meyer had 3 hits for the Merton Amvets, while Taylor Meyer and Jacob Smrz had multiple hit games.  Sam Mulkey was great for Merton giving up one earned run in a complete game.

West Bend 7 Up 10 at Menomonee Falls 6
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38981

If West Bend 7 Up was going to continue to rise back into the mix and start living up to their expectations, taking care of business was needed.  Nick Heiting's Menomonee Falls Lakers had a bad taste in their mouth from a loss to the Lithia a day earlier and were hungry to prove that they were ready to take care of business.  For 6 innings it looked like that Menomonee Falls was going to run away and hide from the 7 Up.  Ryan Romens launched a huge home run to right field to give the Falls a 5-2 lead heading to the 7th.  It was in the 7th that West Bend's bats finally came alive when they plated 7 runs to cruise to the victory.  Sam Mattheis continued his hot weekend by having 3 hits, while Matt Schubert, Matt Parrent, Brandon Mantz, and Joel Musser had multiple hit games for 7 Up.  Joel Sharon pitched strong, going 4 innings for the victory.  Ryan Romans and Dan Born had 3 hits for the Falls.

Monches 1 at Pewaukee 2
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38982

The game of the week, lived up to the game of the week billing with Pewaukee getting a walk off single by starting pitcher Brian Henschel to escape with the 2-1 win.  Mitch Dubnicka had a big day offensively for Monches, with 3 hits.  Dubnicka singled in the first and scored for the 1-0 lead.  The score remained 1-0 until the 8th when Pewaukee plated a runner.  With the scored tied at 1 in the 9th, Brian Henschel's base hit to right field scored Nick Wichser.  Andy Smith was the hard luck losing pitcher, going the distance giving up just 4 hits.  Brian Henschel went 9 for Pewaukee and just gave up 5 hits.

Oconomowoc 9 at North Lake 3
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38983

Oconomowoc knew that either way they were going to gain a game on 2nd place in the Lake Country Division with Monches playing Pewaukee assuming they could take care of business in North Lake.  Fortunately for Oconomowoc Jordan Murray has been pretty impressive in his starts this season and was no different on this day.  The Five O's gave Murray a 8-0 cushion after 7, and he coasted to his 3rd victory of the season.  Derek Nelson continues his hot hiiting, raising his average to a staggering .536 on the season with 3 hits.  Chandler Ziemann and Dusty Rhoads chipped in with multiple hit games for the Five O's.  Travis Koeppen and Matt Gaberino had 3 hit games for the Lakers, while Sam Swan and Matt Wallis had multiple hit games.

Sussex 9 at Hartland 0
http://www.landolakesbaseball.com/schedule/game/38984

When you are struggling scoring runs as much as Hartland has over the past few weeks, the last person you want to see come to town is Travis Thompson, unfortunately as Thompson does, he silenced Hartland's bats for a 5 hit shutout.  Sussex got all it needed scoring 1 in the top of the first, but a big inning in the 4 run 3rd put the game out of reach against a team like Sussex and Thompson.  Sam Harmeyer, in his debut for Sussex had 3 hits, Todd Johnson had a multiple hit game, and Seth Kroenke got his first home run of the season.  Zak Felkner had a multiple hit game while reaching base 3 times for the Oilers.  Jim Gallagher pitched well in relief for Hartland.
